What up.... Welcome man.. now figure out how to get your pics posted here!! Good to meet you and your cousin on this trip.. looking forward to more runs...
BK,
I start with washing the parts to be pained with dish soap and water to strip off wax and oil before sanding. lightly scuff the part with a green scotchbrite pad, if it is on the vehicle, put blue painters tape on any sensitive areas around the part.
Now it is time to mask around the part to be painted, and afterward, wiping the part to be painted down with alcohol. If the part is plastic, I will use an adhesion promoter for my first light coat (spray can). 15 min later add your first color coat, in 30 min your second. You could add a third color coat if the coverage is thin. If it looks good and the part looks done let it sit overnight to dry. Once the part has dried, give it a light wipe down to remove any dust. Now you are ready for the final coat of clear. I use mat clear so the end result is a soft semi-gloss, not too shiny. Two coats of clear and you are done. This paint will last for a looong time, even with heavy brush.
Figured out the name issue. So are you going up Saturday or Friday? I'm debating the opportunity cost of leaving my wife to do all the weekend work a second week in a row...
It's going good! I'm pledging Sigma Chi this semester, so that should keep me busy for the rest of the semester. Haha yeaa I've done quite a bit to it lately. New tires and rear shocks are on the way soon! I've been addicted since even my last car.
When we gonna go on a trail run? We should get the other Stockton/Sac FJer's and head to Prairie City once this weather clears up.
