FJ Cruisers of Northern California
We have been talking about another Step Cal camping trip so this is my idea for late June when we can get in to a very nice area. Dates are tough to pick with all the runs going on in July, so it will have to be the end of June.
A four day trip to Monache Meadows, Thursday 6/23/11 to Sunday 6/26/11. It will be a Fishing and Camping trip, the road in is for four wheel drive vehicles but any stock FJ can get in there. The place is fantastic and somewhat remote. The fishing is artificial lures or flies with barbless hooks within the designated Wild Trout area. There are Golden, Rainbows and Browns and some nice hiking on the South Fork of the Kern River. You can find a lot of information on the area on Google and we posted a run on the blue room in the past. These two links will give you plenty of pics and info on the area:

Let me know if you are interested, Teri is going to join me for this one, Travis will have to babysit the dogs. It is another primitive camping area, you bring it in and you bring it out.
This is the same time as the Donner Lake trip but that is a bit North for us. Give me your thoughts and if it looks good I will post an event up. Don't forget to hit up step cal on face book also and send in your request to join the group.
Monache usually opens by mid June, if we can't get in for some reason we will pick a camp site near that area, possible Kennedy Meadows, we stopped by there during the Last Chance Canyon run and it would be a nice alternate area to camp, fish and enjoy a camp fire.
Hope to see you in the mountains soon!
