HRO current has the Yeasu FT-2900r 2M mobile on sale for 139.95 with free shipping.

This is a solid 2m radio that has a 75 watt output. This model of radio has been around for few years and it is time tested and proven. The only downfall is this is a single band radio, but at 139.95 it's at a price that can't be beat.

Is there interest on setting up a date and time to conduct a NorCalFJ HAM radio user radio check next month. My office has been conducting a number of communication radio checks, drills and Sat Phone/radio/web network exercises over the past few months. Some great training, lessons learned and a few failures. I know I need to use the gear to test it, learn, and improve.

Well I set up a Element 2, Technician training class and exam for our EOC Comm Roster staff and our Incident Command Team Comm staff. 20 of 22 staff passed the exam and most of us are now looking into hand held multi-band radios. I also need to set up four EOC base stations and three comm trailers HAM gear. Lots of work but should be a good learning process. I should have my call sign by Tuesday.... Then I will start looking for gear and looking forward to my first…
