NorCal FJs

FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Just thought I would start a discussion that listed the "small" add ons that people have done to their FJs.

Say like a USB connection, or lights under the body and/or hood.  Just thought we could learn a few

things from our fellow NorCal members..

you mean the, "It's the Nestah Edition" discussion? :-)

I had an issue with my storage net in the back door.  Because I overload it,  the wire along the bottom keeps popping out of the trim and the contents fall out.   I came up with a 2 "Small" zip tie solution.

Haha, I like the thumbs up, Cowboy.

I kept smacking my head on the drivers side grab handle, so I wrapped it in pipe insulation and secured it with zip ties.

This may turn into the zip tie discussion!

Ha!

I need to pad the top of my drivers side door somehow, and it would be nice if it were removable for when I'm not wheeling.  Last time out, while hanging my head out the window and getting thrown all over the place trying to get up Driveshaft Hill (including hitting my head on the grab handle) , I repeatedly banged my shoulder into the door (I'm not very tall) and ended up with a nice bruise.  Any ideas?

Swimming/floating "noodle" and duct tape? Ok, maybe not.

I suppose a tube door would be the "correct" solution... but not the quickest, easiest and least expensive.  I'll keep thinking about a temporary hack.

I rigged some rock lights out of two sewing lights so I could utalize my inverter to plug them in and use the switch up front to turn them on and off.

I used about 20 zip ties to secure the lamps.

I removed my side mirror light deflectors with hemostats (a huge pain in the ass) and replaced the bulbs with amber ones.

On my old FJ one of my favorite easy mods was to add an extra 110v outlet up front to charge camera batteries, run laptops and such.  just having one all the way in the back was pretty useless.

I don't have the rear outlet so would like to do this as well.  Any pics and parts/install info?  Thanks.
