It's scary how similar it looks to yours Taz ;)

lol you are a brave man taz! let me know how the snorkel install goes im thinking i might get one from ebay eventually.

The template was a little messed up.  I have a swiss truck now.  The pillar plate was not easy either.  I also have a TRD intake so I had to modify for it.  Doing it in 90+ degrees is not fun.  Also hard with distractions from the kids and sick wife.

is it fixable??  yeah i feel that about the distractions thats why i never get anything done! which snorkel did you go with?

I made everything work.  It just took time and patience.  I went ebay also.  I couldn't pass on the price.

which ebay one if i may ask? hows the plastic looking?

Check my last post. I made ebay a link.  I looks ok for what I pay for.  I'm happy.  Just a pain because of the TRD intake, bolt holes not lining up perfect and the pillar plate.  If I didn't have so many distractions I could have paid more attention to the bolt hole locations before actually drilling.  The pillar plate was not hard to massage to make it work.  It would have been nice if it was really a bolt on mod but cutting a big hole in a fender is not bolting on.  If you have a stock intake it should be easier as you only have to grind the plastic down a little.  If you are good with your hands you should be able to do this.  Let me know if you decide to do this  you are not far.  I go to Sunnyvale every other weekend for my stepdaughters visits.

I was looking at the one from ebay user rocktek1 (I think that's it) because I think its a repackaged PRG, supposedly high quality plastic comparable to the arb. I do have the stock intake with a k&n drop in. If I do end up going with a snorkel I will definitely hit you up about it since I'm not too great with all the mods. Yeah I wish I didn't have to drill thru the fender but there really aren't many downsides to it and I plan on having the fj forever.
If anyone is close to campbell and is going to do this mod i have the hole saw that i used once on my install
