I have Bilstien 5100's in the rear, blew one out within the first few moderate trail runs. I wish I had gone with higher durability, saws, fox etc. I've heard others who have blown out the 5100's. But I'm far from knowing anything about shocks, so let the experts jump in.
How much cash do you want to spend? If you're thinking Icon, i would not get their stamdard mono tubes, opt for the piggy backs. Also check out Overland Warehouse/Radflo.

The Fox Piggy backs are a better value at half the price of the Icons.  They are a 2" instead of a 2.5" but with the reservoir they are fine unless you're doing some serious high speed desert stuff.  I have also read that they have  more travel than the icons, but have never personally confirmed this.  A lot of people shy away from them because for some reason they sell them as a stock height replacement, but I can attest that they are plenty long enough.  I run the 3.5" all pro rear spring and i get plenty of flex.

This picture is with the sway bar still attached since i havnt got around to strapping it.

Thanks for the input guys. I saw a tacoma with the fox racing shocks and he loves them. sounds like it might be worth spending the extra money and running the fox's??
