Finally got a time to add the Dual Battery set-up. The Optima 35 series batteries worked great and with very little modification fit perfectally. Let me know what you think.

Looks nice!

Wow............very nice. I'm going to go with a dual battery but I never thought 2 would fit like that. Good job

Hey Kurt and Kabe, thanx for the comments. I now have enough reserve for all of my electrical toys, time to add stuff :)

damn thats epic ill be looking into doing something like this sooner than later as my battery was last checked out at around 40%

Thanx Max. I took a chance and bought the batteries without too much measuring. Got lucky. They are group 35.

Very nice setup.

My inverter (1500W) is mounted in the engine bay too, on top my 2nd battery - Odyssey PC1500 Group 34.

It has a remote turn ON and I install the switch in the driver side door panel. I also added a (150A) circuit breaker so I can cut the power when its raining.

Hi Nester,

That is a very sweet job that is typical of you from what I hear. I really like the fact that you have the remote. I went cheap and got mine from Harbor Freight, it's 1400 watts with 2400 peak. So far it seems to have good functionality. It does have USB ports, which is something that I was looking for. Do you have a battery isolator on your batteries? I've been advised to get one set up on mine, but, I don't really know the pros and cons of an isolator. Thanx

These are 2 Optima group 35.

Yes, I have a battery Isolator and I think it is a must to have with dual battery setup.

The main battery is dedicated as the starting and for the ECUs/other engine/internal or cabin components.

The second battery is just for my added accessories using a 12-slot Blue Sea fuse block as the power distribution device.

With the Isolator, I can combine the two batteries as needed or use the 2nd as the (engine) starting battery if the primary got discharged.

That's exactly what I've been concerned about. I wanted to be sure that I had access to both batteries to start it if I ran one, the initial set-up down. Thanx.

Are those inverters designed to be mounted outside of the cabin? I can't imagine the dust and grime is good for the USB ports.

Mine is covered when not in use.

I actually haven't had a chance to do it as of yet, but, I am going to have a cover custom made that should keep it clean, dry and pretty. No problems as of yet, but, I don't want to push my luck. Supposed to get my truck back tomorrow after another big improvement. I have several little things that I need to do before the FJ Summit.
