Well. Changed out my oem NGK plugs for the Densos a couple days ago. I have to say, Im very impressed. The difference in power and gas mileage are both very noticeable. Two tanks of gas on the new plugs so far, and my average has improved from 16.1 to 19.3 so far. Working on the third tank now and its looking just as nice on the guage. The added power isnt remarkable, but is noticeable. I have a pretty heavy foot, so it has gotten a bit of testing. Also, after a complication with my order on the plugs from sparkplugauto.com, ive built a repertoire with the owner of the company, and he offered that if I need anything at all from him, contact him directly and he will "hook me up". The website price is 7.79 per plug I believe, which is already a great deal. So if anyone wants to try the Densos out, let me know and we will take advantage of his offer.

Oh. And if anyone is interested in a good laugh, ill post my emails back and forth with him about the problem we had. I had waited til I was good into my Coors Light before I wrote him each time, so I thought myself as a comedian. Haha

I'm using the Denso Iridium - extra long life SK20HR11 sparkplugs

  • Denso # 3421
  • Extra Long Life Iridium Plug
  • 0.7mm Fine Wire Iridium-Tipped Center Electrode

I have about 30G's on my current set of NGK's so it might be time..

Good info thanks for posting up..

What was the part number of the plugs that you used?  Sounds like they are working well.

Ikh20.....sorry...not 22
weird.  I was at Kragen and I was gonna  buy the iridium plugs, but wanted to talk to the dealer first.  I had them look up what Toyota recomends for the 4.0 v6.  They recomend Denso plugs but they were the copper.  Yes you have to change them at 30k.  The job took 30 min so I really could care less.  I asked about the iridium plugs, they said they recomend the iridium upgrade for the v8 4runners but NOT for the v6.  So I just went with what Toyota recomended for my truck.  I dont notice any difference in gas mileage or power.  Not sure how you really could unless you had horrible plugs prior.  I payed 2 bucks a plug at One Toyota.
I was told about the plugs by Gary, the owner of Mudrak in Sonoma a few weeks ago. He works on nothing but FJs, new and classic. My priors were the NGKs that Marin Toyota had put in em.
As far as my mpg, i just used my third tank up today, and my average on the three tanks is a solid 3.8 mpg better than the last 6 months average. I track my mileage very religiously due to my job reimbursing my miles.
Wow wish I would have read this a few weeks ago. I bought the NGK Iridiums from Amazon for about $7.50 a plug... I have a much smoother idle now but my MPG seems like its plunged! I havent tracked it yet because of my driving habits lately, but this week coming up I will be able to keep track and I am not looking forward to it. I might be switching out soon because its a noticeable drop from before....
I was just about to swap mine out also. I might have to jump on this deal!

OK so does it matter what brand the spark plugs are, but as long as is Iridium right???

Oh and can you buy this at any store or kragen's or autozone carries it.
