My insurance covers my FJ as long as it is state or goverment owned. it's always best to ask your insurance on what they cover, Just don't point out that you will be wheeling your FJ. I told my insurance that I take my FJ camping and if they would insure it in case something happens and they said as long as it's state or gov owned. the reason why they cover it because same regulations for freeway/street are used in the state or gov parks. If it is mechanical problem IE. broken gear and it happend in the park that will not be covered, unless your axel got bent or something that is visible then that would be covered. But again each insurance is different.
Cool man, thanks for the reply. The camping idea is great.....
When I busted my rear end, I got it fixed through insurance. I let them know that I was on at a State Park going up a rutted trail to a common known picnic spot named "Hector Heights". Which was the truth, I was surprised that they covered it.
I'm shopping for a new carrier, so post up some company names that cover state/fed land use.

Mercury is giving me crap about trying to get the value of any mods outside of wheels/tires/stereo added to my policy. I'm trying to pay them a higher premium for a higher declared vehicle value and they don't want my money. Oh, and they're telling me that simply lifting a vehicle makes it suspicious like non-personal use? WTF!
X2 State Farm rocks!!!

Guess it's time to call State Farm and get a quote :)
Ok, now for the update...State Farm will cover you if you have an offroad accident as a 1 off incident. However, if they find out that the car if being used as a offroad vehicle the agent is supposed to write an exclusion so that you are not covered in the future. Meaning, you are good to go as long as you do not tell your State Farm agent that the car is being used for off-roading. Hope that helps. That just shows you how cool my agent is... we pretended that we never talked. :>)
If I were you I would delete this cuz it may come back to haunt you if there is an investigation..
Looks like I might be looking into a new insurance...lol
AAA is a bit pricey, but quality is not cheap. I have yet to find something I dislike about them. It is always wise that you do not describe your activities as potential hazards. It is obvious that 4wheeling and off road activities have the potential for damage. Insurance no one likes ppl that intentionally put invested items at harms way. To the insurance company, you and your vehicle are their investment.

I do not condone lying either, the truth eventually comes out and insurance companies have a different definition for lying.... they call it fraud. So reword your statement. Instead of saying, "I went to Hollister Hills to try some crazy ass obstacle with my crazy ass FJ Cruiser buddies and I busted my rear end while bouncing off rocks while going up a crazy ass obstacle".... try saying, "I was at a State Park and damaged my vehicle while going up a trail to a hill that is known for great views and great area for lunch. I must have gotten distracted by the views and lost control when I hit a rock causing me to roll over another rock and causing damage to my vehicle."

You will still be charged with an at fault loss for both the "statements" the difference is that one is talking about views and lunching, which majority of insurance companies encourage travel. While the other statement is talking about jeep owners. lol Hope this helps.
