FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hi Folks,

I just got a new set of tires (Thanks RogueFJ!) and it looks like I'll need a BMC done. Does anyone know a place that does it? Or is anyone able to help me do it? I'll bring the beer!

All you need is a Sawzall (reciprocating saw) and a grinder.  Super easy. Some folks weld in a plate afterwards, some do not.  In fact there are some that have run their FJs for years without welding plates back in.  Look in my pictures and see mine. I did end up welding plates in (a buddy did really) after a few days.  But the cut is easy, just intimidating if you've never done it. Where exactly are you located?  I'm willing to lend a hand depending on when you need it done by. This weekend is out for me. Next is a real possibility.

Are lifted??? If not max out your caster it will stop it from rubbing!!

Thanks Meestar! I'm up for it. I can wait too! I live in Sunnyvale/Santa Clara. I wish I had the tools and the garage. I'm in an apartment and they tend to frown on me when I play with my toys...its hard when you have the mod-bug...I'll PM you and see if we can do something about this rubbing...

Hey Ulysi. Yeah, I have a RC 3" lift on it. Took it to Firestone today to make use of my "lifetime alignment warranty". They told me they won't do anything out of specs. I tried and tried but he just won't do the +3.5 caster.

Got your friend request and sent you a message.  I'm down for Saturday, question is are you comming to my driveway or do you have a spot to chop?

I'm game for the drive! I'll come to you! PM'ed you back.

PM sent

Just wanted to say it here too! Thanks Meestar Jim!!! It was great meeting you and super thanks on the BMC you did for me. I felt bad because all I did was sit there and look pretty while you got down and dirty with my FJ! :D

She doesn't rub anymore!

Great meeting you and your lady too Mengo! And thanks for the beer!!!

Cool, can you post a pic?  Did Jim weld a plate or leave open?  I gotta get this done very soon.

Hey BGameFJ, I only chopped the mounts and painted to keep rust out until Mengo decides to get plates welded on. Hopefully he will post pics. I ran mine without plates for a while with no problems. Finally had a buddy weld plates on for piece of mind.

I'm currently at work, but I will post up pics later on tonight. I'm leaving it open for now until I find someone to weld...or until Jim is trained on it! :P More stout beer coming your way!
